B-I-B-L-E, That's the Book for Me?

Throughout its history, the Bible has been both a source of angst and inspiration for many. It's been used to justify hate and discrimination, and at the same time, it has moved many to make the world a better place. The Bible is a complex and complicated book, and it remains a mystery to many.

How was it put together? Who wrote it? Why? What does it mean for me? Most of the time, we only hear one way of interpreting the Bible—a fundamentalist approach that takes the Bible literally. It treats the Bible like a science or history textbook, but there are many more ways profitable ways to read the Bible. At heart, at least for me, the Bible is a compendium of stories that tell a deeper truth about God, our world, and our human condition. At the next God on Tap we'll be talking about different approaches and readings of the Bible that are life-giving, relevant, and open us to God and one another. We'll also be taking your questions. What are the nagging questions that you carry around about the Bible? Bring them with you, and we'll try to answer them—well, as best we can.
