Epic Journeys

Just recently I've been thinking back to an epic journey Jenny and I made in 2000 on our honeymoon when we spent six weeks traveling across Europe on the train. We visited 16 cities in 11 countries. It was completely amazing and I learned so much about myself, about us as a couple, and the world. I feel like in so many ways, I'm still learning from that experience. It affected me more than I ever expected.

What epic journeys have you taken, either traveling or in your life experiences? And what did you learn about yourself, others, the world, or God along the way?

I ask, in part, because we often use the language of "journey" when we talk about faith. We refer to "the journey of faith," and this time of year we talk about "our Lenten journey." But what does that really mean? What is a journey all about? Why does that word seem to resonate so powerfully for people?

My hunch is that in sharing the stories of our epic journeys, we'll learn something about life and faith along the way.
