That Was One Hell of a Week

Between the bombings and manhunt in Boston and the explosion at a fertilizer plant that rocked the town West, Texas—and other news about shootings and avalanches—last week was, well, one hell of a week. We'll take some time to debrief and decompress after such an emotional, anxious, and disturbing week.

Did you know people at the marathon? Ever run it? How were you affected by all the news coverage? We'll also explore the role of faith, religion, and spirituality in these events and our response to them. To me, questions like this emerge:

  • Where was God in the midst of all this?

  • What is the role of religion for good or ill not just in Boston, but in our world?

  • Why is there such evil in the world and why does it seem so powerful?

  • How do people of faith and spirit respond to these events and the struggles and suffering we see in our world?

  • And I wonder: what questions do you have?

I lived in Boston for 15 years and had friends that were down at the finish line when the bombs went off. I tell the story in the video below. I hope you can join us for a drink and good conversation.
